I can't wait to eat... vetkoek!

Deep-fried doughy deliciousness
Pronounced FET-cook, this traditional Afrikaner pastry is dough deep-fried in cooking oil and then served with either seasoned ground beef or spread with syrup, honey or jam.  Cheddar cheese is delicious with either the savory or sweet filling!

Vetkoek literally means "fat cake" and is thought to have its origins from the Dutch oliebollen, which go back to the time of the migration period.

Stuffed with ground beef, chutney and cheese... drool-worthy
