Animals are Beautiful People

Animals are Beautiful People is the original title of the 1974 film commonly known as Beautiful People.  The film is an amusing wildlife documentary written and directed by internationally acclaimed South African film director, Jamie Uys, who is famous for his 1980 film The God's Must Be Crazy.  The fascinating footage for Beautiful People was filmed over four years in the Namib desert, Kalahari desert and Okavango Delta Region.  Comparisons between humans and animals are drawn throughout the movie with some famously hilarious scenes.  The movie won Best Documentary that year and earns an impressive 88% on Rotten Tomatoes.

I just so happen to have a copy of this old film and would love to schedule a special screening so we can all enjoy it together.  We can have a South African theme to our movie snacks and we must buy a bottle of Amarula to enjoy.  Once we watch the movie you'll find out why!

  1. Gail has already commissioned her mom to buy us a bottle of Amarula since she can get it duty free on her cruise. I think we should do a South-African-dessert-themed screening of the movie.

Gail, it's a fantastic family friendly movie, you're welcome to bring the whole crew if you'd like.

    So let's pick a date!
